Innocence
“You CAPTURED my HEART”
“My HEART just melted”
“I gave you the KEYs to my HEART”
“You tugged on my HEART strings”
“You gave my HEART wings”
“TenderHearted”
“Wild Thing….ba bum… bum ba bum… You make my HEART Sing” – oh wait, that one has a naughty slant to it just because of the beat and delivery, so maybe just … “You Put a Song in My Heart” – better? Oh wait a minute… I have permission to be naughty!! I’m not supposed to censor myself! Yeh, back to “Wild Thing, You Make My Heart Sing”.
“You set my HEART in motion” – (Go Amy Grant, CROSSOVER to Pop, Baby!!)
These are not big important concepts individually, so I think I have an idea for the imagery to be set into a connected set of small shadow boxes which collectively portray all of these ideas. One grouping representing “LOVE: INCEPTION” – in all of its glory. Or maybe a stacked tower of the blocks, ripe and waiting for damage, disillusionment, and reality to knock it down. (The cynicism intrudes again, sorry).
That reminds me of the first time my infant son Sam laughed out loud – I mean a real hearty belly laugh. He was about 7-or- 8 weeks old and lying face-down on a pallet on the floor like a wiggling worm. I sat down and carefully built a tower of blocks for him while he watched studiously. Then I turned to reach for another block and accidently knocked the entire tower down. Blocks went flying in all directions and he bellowed laughter like a drunk at a comedy club. Or like I’d just done a backflip and landed on my tush or something just hilarious. Naturally I repeated this maneuver for him (the block tower not the back flip) numerous times just to hear that laughter.
Damned if he didn’t just MELT my heart!
LOVE: INCEPTION
Works in progress on “Melted Heart”, “Prisoner of Love”, “You Made My Heart Sing”, “Keys to My Heart”, “Heart in Motion”, “Tugging on my Heartstrings”, & ”You Gave My Heart Wings”.
Ok, so with the Winged Heart here I’m actually going for every precious, gooey cliche ( I mean hearts & butterflies, how sappy can you get?) to show fluffy romantic love.
This is my one concession to Valentine’s Day. Take that Jane Seymour!
It’s actually fun doing this whimsical crafty stuff now,- exploring a little Steam Punk here, a little Encaustic technique there, a touch of Scrapbooking (GOOD LORD what an industry that is! I’d say Martha Stewart is doing JUST FINE after her stint in the slammer. Her line of stuff is raking in the bucks). I’m enjoying just playing cute right now because I know I’m heading into the dark places very soon. Where the damage lies in wait to be revealed and where Martha Stewart’s craft line is not going to help me out. She doesn’t offer “Blackened Heart” or “Dark Night of the Soul” embellishments and stickies.
